EAC publishes Report on 2011 Village Representative Election
The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) published the Report on the 2011 Village Representative (VR) Election today (May 27), stating in the report that the election was organised smoothly and in an open, fair and honest manner.
Following past practices, the EAC conducted a comprehensive review of all aspects of the electoral procedures and arrangements after completion of the election, with a view to improving the conduct of future elections. The report sets out the scope of review and recommendations.
A Government spokesman said, "We are grateful to the EAC for their efforts in reviewing the electoral arrangements and making recommendations. We will work closely with the EAC to take forward the recommendations."
In accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance (Cap. 541), the EAC submitted the Report on the 2011 VR Election to the Chief Executive on April 20, 2011. The Chief Executive agreed with the EAC's recommendation to make public the report so that people may be kept posted as to how the EAC conducted and supervised the 2011 VR Election. Members of the public may download the report from the EAC website (www.eac.hk) or obtain a copy from the Public Enquiry Service Centres in 18 districts.
