Statement of Policy
The protection of privacy in relation to non-employment related personal data is the concern of every member of staff in Home Affairs Department (“the Department”). The Department is committed to ensuring that all non-employment related personal data are handled in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and the Data Protection Principles.
Statement of Practices
Kinds of Non-Employment related Personal Data Held
The Department holds the following kinds of personal data –
- General administrative records which include personal data collected in connection with the office administration functions, records containing information supplied by data subjects and collected in connection with the handling of enquiries and complaints made to the Department, etc.; and
- Other records, which include administrative and programme records containing personal data.
Purposes of Holding Non-Employment related Personal Data
The main purposes of keeping the personal data are as follows –
- General administrative records are kept for purposes of carrying out various administration functions, responding to and taking follow-up actions on enquiries and complaints, etc.; and
- Other records are kept for various purposes, which vary according to the nature of the records, such as procurement of stores and equipment, organisation of activities, etc.
